ISLAMABAD, Pakistan, Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Six people were killed in a suspected U.S. drone attack in Pakistan near its border with Afghanistan, military officials said.

Two missiles were fired at suspected militants hiding in Pakistan's North Waziristan, one of seven districts in its tribal region, CNN reported Thursday.

CNN did not name its sources because they are not authorized to speak to the media. Three drone attacks Wednesday killed 18 suspected militants.

The United States is the only country in the region known to have the ability to launch such strikes, but the U.S. rarely comments on drone attacks, CNN said.
