ISTANBUL, Turkey, Sept. 8 (UPI) -- Milos Teodosic's 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds remaining Wednesday gave Serbia a 92-89 quarterfinal win over Spain in the World Basketball Championships.

The defending champion Spanish lost for the third time in the tournament and were eliminated from contention. Serbia set up a semifinal duel with Turkey, which again rode its home court advantage, this time to a 95-68 decision over Slovenia.

In Thursday's other quarterfinals, the United States will face Russia and Lithuania will meet Argentina.

Turkey, the United States and Lithuania are all unbeaten in the tourney.

Serbia and Spain met for the title in the European Basketball Championship last year, with the Spanish winning on that occasion. Spain failed to reach the semifinal of a major international event for the first time in six years.

Marc Gasol scored on a dunk with 25.8 seconds to tie the game and Teodosic then ran down the clock before hitting his winning shot from the top of the key.

Turkey built a 27-14 lead over Slovenia after one period and coasted the rest of the way.
