Steady Tseng leads British Women's Open
07/30/2010 04:14 P (EST)
Yani Tseng Friday recorded her second consecutive 4-under-par 68 and has built a 4-stroke lead halfway through the Women's British Open.

Tseng closed with three birdies in her final five holes Friday and is at 8-under 136 through 36 holes. Cristie Kerr shot into a tie for second with a 5-under 67 Friday. She, Brittany Lincicome and Amy Yang, who each shot 1-under 71 Friday, are tied at 4-under.

Three golfers are tied for fifth, five strokes off the lead.

Tseng had a birdie at the second hole Friday but suffered her first bogey of the tournament at No. 3. She had a birdie at the sixth hole and was steady with seven consecutive pars.

She then had a birdie at the par-3 14th hole and added back-to-back birdies at 16 and 17 to get to 4-under.

Kerr's 65 is the low round of the tournament. She had five bogeys in Thursday's first round en route to a 1-over 73. But Friday she opened with birdies at 1 and 2, holes she had bogeys on Thursday, and had four other birdies against one bogey the rest of the round.
