ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., July 29 (UPI) -- Carlos Pena had three hits, including a home run Thursday, and drove in all of Tampa Bay's runs in the Rays' 4-2 win over the Detroit Tigers.
The victory gave Tampa Bay a sweep of the four-game series against the Tigers.
Rays starter Davis Price (14-5) allowed seventh hits and two runs over 6 1/3 innings while Randy Choate got two outs and Dan Wheeler pitched two innings without giving up a hit. Wheeler earned his second save.
Pena's home run -- his 23rd of the year -- came leading off the second inning. Detroit tied the score in the third when Will Rhymes, who had tripled, scored on a force out but Pena answered with a two-run, two-out single in the bottom of the inning that put Tampa Bay ahead for good.
The Tigers made it 3-2 in the seventh off Austin Jackson's RBI single.
An inning later Pena collected his third hit of the day, a single that knocked in Sean Rodriquez.
All of the Rays' runs were charged to Tigers starter Rick Porcello (4-9), who struck out eight but allow five hits and two walks over 7 1/3 innings.
